This is our friend Noemie. She is a brave adventurer. We met Noemie about a week ago, when she came into the shop looking for a bicycle.
“I want to ride a bicycle to Memphis! And New Orleans! And California!” she proclaimed in a Swiss accent. So, we introduced her to the pink and cream beauty you see above, and it was love at first sight.
Luckily, Noemie stuck around Nashville for a while, gracing us with her presence. She left yesterday, and is currently somewhere on the Natchez Trace. We are thinking about you and wish you the best of travels, Noemie! Come back soon.
Thank you, Google. The new “Bike There” option for Google Maps could potentially be the answer to many cyclists’ prayers. It is about time that a standardized bicycle routing system was created, and who better than Google to provide it. Let’s hope that it will include elevation information…
Right now, Google is taking suggestions for where their “trike cam” should go that cars cannot: greenways, park trails, etc. The deadline for suggestions is October 28th, and we have to get our region involved. Not only would it be great for our community of cyclists, but it would be invaluable to traveling cyclists who come through our area. Please contact Google and tell them where you want their maps to go.

HELLO NEW WORLD !!! HALCYON REIGNS CHAMPION !!!
Thank you for everyone who voted in the Nashville Scene 2009 Best of Nashville Reader’s Poll. We are so very excited to be named Best Bicycle Shop in Nashville. We are completely humbled by this recognition. Our dedication to providing the absolute best service and products possible is stronger than ever.
You better believe we will be celebrating for the next 6 weeks, after which we will celebrate our FIRST BIRTHDAY !
Also, check out the write up for Elise, co-owner of Halcyon, who won an editor’s pick for “Best Ideals in Practice.” Good job, Elise. You have fooled them all! J/K, j/k.
Seth left today for tour. He will be gone for two weeks and we are taking it pretty rough. There is an empty hole that only Seth can fill. For the next two weeks, please be kind. We are grieving our (temporary) loss.
Oh, and that is Seth stagediving at Natural Child’s show for Next Big Nashville. It was a pretty rad night. In fact, all of Halcyon’s staff was stage diving that night. Even lil’ Stephannie.
