Halcyon Bike has been nominated for a $35,000 grant being offered by Intuit software. However, we need YOUR votes in order to earn this grant! It is quick and easy- nominate us here by telling Intuit why you love our business.

This grant is going to local businesses who are loved by their community. At Halcyon, our number one goal is to give back to the Nashville community, whether it be with our Workshop program, our community work bench, selling locally made goods, teaching customers bike repair, hosting events, or advocating for cyclists in the Nashville area. A grant of this size would provide us the necessary funding to continue and grow the projects we have started. So, please take a moment and tell Intuit why you love Halcyon!

This is awesome! Tennessee is one of twenty states (well…nineteen states and the District of Columbia) who will participate in the Safe Routes to School project. The project aims to encourage physical activities for kids, primarily lower income students. One way of doing this is to create easier ways to walk and bike to schools.

One thing that we have learned from the Workshop is that many students simply can’t bike to school because there are too many busy roads and intersections for them to cross. They want to use their newly tuned bikes, but it just isn’t safe for them to bike to school. An initiative like this could change Nashville’s future. If kids can start walking and biking to school, they will understand the ease and enjoyment of commuting without a car. Organizations are encouraged to join the project, contact Drew Jacobs at tenessee@saferoutespartnership.org for more information. Spread the news!
