Good news, Murfreesboro. The county commissioner of Rutherford County has announced the creation of a bicycle committee, who will advise on plans for new bike lanes, “Share the Road” signage, bike parking, and ways to encourage healthy relationships between cyclists and drivers.
Murfreesboro has had an active cycling community for years, ranging from mountain and road riders to commuters and fixed. Considering the number of students, the relatively flat terrain, and small size of the town, it is truly a great place to ride. Hopefully bike lanes and paths will encourage growth in this already growing scene. Right oooonnnnnn.

I encourage anyone who has a passion for bicycles to check out the North American Handmade Bicycle Show. A three day convention for cyclists, builders, and companies, you could say it is the independent’s Interbike (which, if you are unfamiliar with, is the largest bicycle merchant convention held annually). We attended last year’s Handmade show in Indianapolis, and are getting super excited for this year’s show, which is in Richmond, VA (a sister city to Halcyon…check out our friends Books on Wheels, who we will definitely be kicking it with while in RVA this year).
If you plan on attending, let us know! Last year, we had a great Nashville representation and met other cyclists from all over the world.
