As the 2009 bicycle season winds down, vendors have started introducing new items for the 2010 season. Now, we didn’t go to no fancy Interbike, but we’s got the internets and the blogs to keep us up on the newest stuff and things.
A few of my personal favorites, which you will be seeing at Halcyon in the near future:
From Velo Orange, the Porteur rack. Honestly, everything in the new Porteur series is ruling our world over here, and this front rack is fantastic. Large enough to carry all the necessities, and attractive enough to have the Velo Orange seal of aesthetic approval. $160
Pake has a new line of nylon toe clips that come in a bunch of colors and are quite affordable at $10. Reminds me of some NOS Christophe toe clips we have had.
I really love this new basket from Wald. A few companies have had wood-bottomed baskets, but they have been rather expensive. This basket is $70, and Wald is a family run, Made in the USA business that we love to support. There is also a back rack in the new ‘Woody’ line of products. Awesome.

Ok, it is still in prototype stages, but the big talk right now is Knog’s new electronic Solid State u-lock. It will have a keyless entry (like a keyless car opener), and is expected to be around $150. INTERESTING.
Not new to the market, but new to Halcyon: we just picked up Bern Helmets and Hold Fast. Bern makes stylish helmets for every type of cyclist, and let’s face it. It is just plain dumb to not wear a helmet.
Hold Fast makes durable straps with fixed and freestyle riders in mind, but are great for anyone looking for a quality strap. They are handmade in New York and are fully adjustable.
If you are interested in reserving any of these items, just let us know. And if there are items or brands you want to see at Halcyon, speak up. We’re doing this for y’all, after all.
