Yesterday was a big success. HUGE SUCCESS!

As you know, Halcyon has partnered with Oasis Center and ReCycle Your Cycle to start the Halcyon Bike Workshop, a youth bike co-op that will be starting in the next month. We are taking bike donations for the program: any kind of bike in any condition. Guess how many bikes we raised yesterday?

200? 250? 300? 350? We can’t even count them there are so many!!! The donations came in all day long, both at the shop and at the Earth Day celebration in Centennial Park. It is overwhelming and energizing to see such support from our community. We hoped to collect 50-100 bikes, so you can imagine how excited we are with the results. Now we can begin working on the bikes and teaching teens to work on them, and get these bikes into the hands of Nashvillians in need. It doesn’t get much better than that.

We will continue to take donations, you can bring them to the bike shop, located at 1118 Halcyon Ave., off of 12th Avenue South. Business hours are Tuesday-Saturday 11-7 and Sunday 12-5. All donations are tax deductible and are going to a great cause.

For now, we need to figure out where to store all these bikes…

Recently, our friend Bridget was in a bad bike wreck. Even though she was wearing a helmet!!!, she had some nasty damage done to her teeth. Without dental insurance, and without front teeth, Bridget’s medical bills are going to add up quickly. Friends, rock and roll, and door prizes = fantastic way to raise $$$
